I recently installed a compact crank on my Centurion LeMans, it has a six speed freewheel and index shifting. I will need to shorten the chain which is no problem, however after setting everything up I found that the rear derailluer pulley hits the sprockets on the freewheel when I am in the large front crank gear, any advice is appreciated. 😕

Resize your chain using the big/big method described in parktool.com. I'm thinking that'll fix it.

I suggest a new 8 speed narrow chain, a KMC Z92 would be very good, and use the Big=Big method to set the length. 😉

You should screw in the 'B' adjustment screw usually found at the back of the rear der. This way it'll pull the top pulley wheel away from the cogs.

The screw is turned in all the way, I thought about moving my wheel forward just a little.
