Whats the point of calling yourself a serious cyclist if youre just going to rely on shuttle services to get you to the top of a mountain or to a trailhead, only to ride back down and pretend like you earned the views? Is it really that hard to put in the actual effort and ride the whole way, or are people just too afraid of being passed by a stronger rider on the way up?
Do shuttle services even care about the environment, or are they just a bunch of gas-guzzling vehicles spewing emissions everywhere, negating the whole point of cycling as an eco-friendly mode of transportation? And whats with the cost - are people really willing to pay upwards of $50 for a shuttle ride to a trailhead thats only 10 miles away from the nearest town, when they could just ride their bike instead?
And lets talk about the safety aspect - what happens when the shuttle breaks down or gets stuck in traffic, leaving you stranded on the side of the road with no way to get back to civilization? Do shuttle services even have emergency response plans in place, or are they just winging it and hoping for the best?
Can someone please explain to me why anyone would choose to use a shuttle service to get to a ride, when they could just ride their bike the whole way and get some actual exercise and enjoyment out of it? Is it really that much easier to just pay someone to drive you around, or am I just missing something here?
