All of a sudden I'm seeing and hearing all these ads for
colon cleansing products. One even suggests 95% of people
have large parasites living in the digestive track that are
expelled when you use their products? Are these products
useful? Do most older people have large amounts of fecal
debris, and toxins lodged in their colons? I'm just trying
to figure out if these products are a scam, or a useful
health aid.

Most people (unless they have serious digestive problems,
are laxative addicts, or opiate abusers) have colons that
are quite capable of moving food in and feces out. Nothing
lodges there.Just eat more fresh fruits, high fiber whole grains, fresh
veggies and get moderate exercise.Tsu Dho Nimh

Most people do not have parasites living in their colons,
especially in the United States (such things are much more
common in certain parts of the world). And the idea that
most anyone (other than someone with an impaction, which is
an acute and life-threatening condition) has a colon piled
up with unexpelled feces is complete nonsense.Just as an example, one of the more blatant lies pushed by
the colon cleansers is that the movie star John Wayne had 50
lbs of feces in his colon when he died. He didn't -- that's
an insanely large amount, far more than any colon could
hold. And there was no autopsy done on him anyway, so nobody
would have known it even if it were true. The colon cleansers try to tell you also that feces build up
on the wall of the colon, like gunk on the inside of a sewer
pipe. Well, they don't. The colon is ingeniously formed such
that the inner layer frequently sloughs off, so even if
something did manage to adhere to it, it'd be swished away
within a week or two anyway. In summary: scam. Save your money.

your health, white flour products should not play a major
part in your diet and fresh fruit n' veg should not be
replaced by processed foods. Moderate exercise can be as
easy as a brisk walk in the park and using a bicycle for
local travel.Vashti

preying off the somatically hypervigilant, easily
suggestible and those suffering from delusional parasitosisdelusion.ucdavis.edudelusion.ucdavis.eduOpen ↗
Note that there will be at least one poster here who will
claim that she cured herself of parasites by taking some
cleanse by the mother of all quacks, Hulda Clark. Hulda
Clark claims that she has the cure for ALL cancers and that
cancers are ALL caused by some parasite.Aloha,

When the disgestion system starts to break down either from
age or disease, people have many bowel and colon problems. The *gang* here is repeating what *organized medicine has
told them. They can't explain the many cases of colon and
bowel problems.Do your own research.

Then you disagree with the alternative medical claim that
every one, even the young women mainly involved in such
unnecessary practices, is potentially being poisoned by
toxins in the colon and should be regularly "cleansing"?
Also, name one "bowel and colon" problem of the elderly that
is helped by such. The evidence actually suggests that using a lot of laxatives
and being obsessive about bowel function does much more harm
than good. Many of the patients I saw with bowel problems as
adults were given laxatives by their parents as a child,
through the belief that a "good clean-out" was healthy
( arather weak bit of anecdotal evidence, but as strong as
anything that alt.med ever offers)..Quoted message said:
The *gang* here is repeating what *organized medicine has
told them.Typical Jan pseudoargument. Even if it was not backed up by
a lot of experience in dealing with bowel problems,
including hundreds if not thousands of endoscopies in my own
case, how does that make it untrue? Do you not believe in
vitamins, simply because organised medicine discovered them?Quoted message said:
They can't explain the many cases of colon and bowel

allegation (what problems can't we explain?) the lack of a
scientific explanation for any particular bowel problem
does not automatically mean that alt.med bowel nonsense has
any merit.Peter Moran

all of them lifestyle problems.1. Long-term use of laxatives. (often in the misguided
belief that they are necessary)
2. sedentary lifestyle.
3. inadequate intake of dietary fiber and liquids.Tsu Dho Nimh

found in the USA, and of those that are, they are rarely
found in humans. He is very careful to explain what is
common, uncommon, and really rare. He's listing animal parasites that OCCASIONALLY infect
humans, as well as all the vectors of such parasites -
mosquitos can't be eliminated by a colon purge, nor can
ticke and lice or even liver flukes.Quoted message said:

does not automatically mean that alt.med bowel nonsense has
any merit. It is all about reducing anxiety. Jan is anxious about
developing colon disease. Alt.med says that they have
solution to reduce chances of developing bowel disease.
Believing their solution reduces anxiety. Now Jan feels much
better. She feels very threatened by those who challenge the
alt.med assertions explaining her personal attacks.Jan Drew reads about parasites in Hulda Clark book. She then
begins to worry she has parasites and develops symptoms. She
then does a parasite cleanse which reduces her anxiety and
resolves her symptoms instantaneously. She then reads about
amalgams and mercury and worries she has mercury poisoning.
Again her symptoms become worse and she thinks she is dying
and spending much time in bed.She has some amalgams removed and she feels better than she
has in two years. And then Jan ADMITS that she felt better
than she had in two years because of "RELIEF". Jan says
"relief makes you feel better. What is so hard to understand
that"?? Does a history get any more obvious that the
exacerbation and improvement were due to psychologic
factors?? Jan has no answer. All she can do is make personal
attacks. Cue Jan to talk about nude hiking, nuked posts,
stalking, etc. Sad that.Aloha,
Rich
