I don't believe that simply having time and a trainer will result in
15 lbs of upper body muscle in one month. It takes something more.

don't think that's *necessarily* the something more. Hollywood hype is
what I'd call it.
Michael Mann expects him to gain 7 kg on his upper body only? How's he
going to measure that exactly? He's not. The director is simply looking
for an increase in the star's muscularity.
Still, I do share your opinion if you're talking about drugs, though.
And I doubt that Farrell would have any problem using available
resources from a _this might be bad for my health_ perspective.
