Coldest Ride?

Ride year round, -20 C I still ride.

Rode in Saskatoon a couple of years ago when there visiting Grampa. Temp was somewhere in the -25 range. Just rode for a shorter time.

Wow that's pretty cold. Brrrr! I don't think I would go out when it's that cold.

I remember like yesterday it was 1984, 6:30am early January. -10f. I was riding to work. 2 miles. ICE! Dark. Very crunchy! Wind layers on. Road bike. My nose hairs were freezing. It hurt.At the back of my throat. Why did it hurt? It hurt! Mommie!

I remember back when I mtb-ing me and the guys set off for Winter Hill which had turned into a huge snowball and every single pair of bouncy forks had frozen solid after about an hours riding. We had icicles, literally, hanging off our helmet peaks.

I don't compare to you guy's but in November 03 I had just finished building my current bike and decided to take it out for a ride, it was about 40f and raining but I had to take it for a ride. I could only muster about 10 miles but it was cool (to pun intended) to shift for the first time with the Campy Ergopower shifters

i winterbiked in chicago for several years so i got accustomed to some pretty cols weather. i live in colorado now, which isnt nearly as severe. it just started getting cold here this week and last night i was riding home from work (16 miles each way) in soaking rain and about 35 degrees F, which was actually more uncomfortable (thanks to the wetness) than subzero rides i do reasonably comfortably.

to top it off i flatted out and didnt have any tire levers in my bag (d'oh) so it took me like 20 minutes and 10 very numb, raw fingers to get my damn bead off my rim.

If you get stuck like that again, use the quick-release lever from your wheel. It actually doubles as a good emergency tyre-lever!

yeah i actually did that and it worked, but sorta clumsily, as it was sort of a fat lever, and the cold made the bead extra tight.

commuted ~ 2 miles at O F and did a 30 mile group ride at 20 F; as a general rule train indoors if it's much below 30 F as it just ain't enjoyable anymore

lived in toon town when i was 13 or so, all the locals thought the blow in aussie was nuts riding in minus 20. apart from hitting ice every now and again it was fine, gotta love snow banks for launch ramps as well.

I once tried to ride about 33 miles, mostly uphill, on a demartment store MTB. I turned around after maybe 10 due to cold. I used my palm to grasp my keys and unlock the door since I could not move my fingers at all. I was afraid I might lose some of them.
