Clipless Query

I wear size 14B in street shoes. Cycling shoes should fit snugly. I wear size 48 in the Italian-
made cycling shoes such as Diadora and Sidi. To get a good fit, you're going to want to go to your
LBS and actually try some on. Until you know exactly what you want, online is not a good way to
buy shoes.

You might want to consider the Shimano sandals. Since there are velcro straps to adjust everything I
can get a perfect fit. BTW, each foot has it's own "setting". In cooler weather, even though it
looks terminally nerdy, I wear a pair of socks with the sandals. In warm weather, having fresh air
ventilate my feet is a delight. It may be the way to go.

PS BTW, Bebop cleats work well with this sandals after you route out a "channel" for the
pedal spindle.

nashbar.com has SPD shoes in size 14 - good discounts even.

Good advice. I stopped by the LBS today & was surprised to find several pair of 48's. The Sidi's ran
too small for my wide 14's, but Specialized seem to fit pretty well.

Thanks for the heads up! I checked out nashbar & got a pair
of Lake 48 wide MTB shoes. Got a pair of shimano pedals on
yesterday and the difference is amazing. With the toe clips
I had been using my size 14 feet wouldn't fit far enough
into the clips, so I was pedaling from the ball of the foot
forward, practically on my toes.

The Lake shoes seemed just a little snug, even tho they are
'wide', but when I clip in my feet rest back towards the
heels & the shoes are very comfortable while riding. Really
looking forward to some nicer weather & longer rides.

I second the Shimano sandal recommendation. It helps,
too, if your fairing gives you some foot protection.
Lake also makes sandals, reportedly with more padding
than the Shimano.

I went with Lake MTB shoes, because they came in a 'wide
48', which fit me well. I may get some sandals later, but am
a little concerned with the fit issue. Shimano's largest
looks to be 47/48, Lake says only XL. My large, wide US 14's
need a generous 48.
