you won't go back after clipless...

just start off with them very loose and then work your way up

i baulked when my lbs suggested it when i purchased a decent mtb.
i ended up with the shimano pd-324's which are clips on one side of the pedals and flat on the other.

i now feel more "solid" and prefer to be clipped in. so much so, that I'm now about to purchase full clipless pedals.
(which also means that my 324's will be soon appearing on ebay - or if you're in melbourne...)

You betcha.

Definitely a worthwhile investment. I have two MTBs, one for offroad and the other set up as a commuter. There are definite benefits with clipless (I use eggbeaters). I actually feel more secure with clipless than without. I guess it's because I don't feel like my feet will slip when i'm pedalling furiously through traffic down the Pacific Highway.🙂
