  1. Riding to work this morning, I nearly got hit by a driver who was not
paying attention. I took evasive action, swinging wide around the
vehicle as it reversed towards me from a parking bay.

Now where's the cliche? Huge 4WD. Female driver. Parking bay was outside
a day care centre. I had to laugh.

Hmmmm Back or silver. Am I right if I say it was black ??

It's either that or getting all wound up and screeching at 'em...

BE A LOOF! (There has been a recent population explosion of lerts.)

  3. While I don't condone this person's apparent lack of acknowledgment of a
cyclist on the road, be aware that both Mum's and Dad's dropping their kids
off at childcare centres probably wouldn't notice a bus coming past. It
would be preferable to get new Mums and Dads off the roads but given the
likelihood that this will never happen, can I suggest you change your route
to avoid the chilcare centre!? I am sure there must be well described
condition that new parents get after the birth of a child. The major
symptom of this is an extreme deficit in brain power. This comes from
personal experience... and I'm still waiting for the brain to recover!!

Actually, I think she failed on that point, no phone. Therefore not the
    WORST example of "driving"

Hahahaha. Actually, I've never seen a car there previously. It was all
    very twilight zone...

Grunting up Mt Cootha this morning, I nearly got hit by a driver who
WAS paying attention - tried to shave me. Deadshit in a [censored] Camry. No
life. And must work in a [censored] TV station.

You can almost hear them thinking "hey I'm miserable and on the way to work...you're out here enjoying yourself...I'll make you pay"

I got a "[censored]" yelled in my ear this morning as a commode with 2 inbreds passed me driving illegally in the Transit Lane. As I passed them waiting for their turnoff the driver copped a lapful of sticky Gatorade. I couldn't get the passenger but I figured one was as good as the other. I don't normally do stuff like that but it felt soooooo good 🙂

He might have been going there to propose to his pregnant scrubber. Have heard of that happening twice in the last week. Nice and close to hospitals - never know when she might burst.

Eugh, makes me think of children. Eugh!

Lotte - happy Tam made it work in one piece

This morning when I left for uni, Mum reminded me to take some Gatorade
    with me. It's only a 1hr ride, so I figured I didn't need it. But NOW I
    know why. 😄

I had a similar thing at the weekend. Early morning, road with 2 lanes each
direction, bugger all traffic, guy in an Excel decides that rather than use
the large expanse of road he has available to him that he will pass me as
close as he possibly can at about 70 ks an hour! Not happy Jan!!

Now there's a funny name for a car (recent thread). Excels in what?

  16. My wife demanded one of those "Baby on board" signs for the car when our
first arrived. "I've just got to let people know why..." she said.

    Oy!

It depends on the age of the children. We were able to avoid childcare
until age 1 for both of ours, which meant we were over the worst of the
sleep deprivation. Some people seem to put their offspring into daycare
before they're out of the maternity wing, and they're probably the ones
who you'll need to keep an eye out for <stereotype> and they're probably
the ones driving Prados as well </stereotype>

i tried something the other day, open hand, palm slapped the rear window
as a 4WD reversed out onto the street. made an alimighty thump type
noise. driver let out an audible brown trouser momnet type noise...

she then caught up with me on the street a couple blocks away.
asked if i was ok. "i replied with did you look?" "yes" "did you see me
on the bike?" "no" "or the bus following me?" "no" both of us were very
lucky not to have been cleaned up by the bus, which was following me in
    the bike lane!

    kim
~ damn buses drive in the marked bike lane to avoid the very long line
of parked cars on the road waiting for the train crossing =/
