Clear Mylar Adhesive

I use 3M Scotch tape. It may not hold up forever, but it's easy to find.

there must be ESP in da house. I just ordered a 10' roll of 2" wide clear mylar tape very reasonably priced from Coloradocyclist.com yesterday. Great for cable rub on the steerer tube...chain stay chain slap of course...my new bike came with a vinyl cover...LH chain stay subject to road assault and behind the seat tube from wheel kick up. Also good to protect your frame clear coat against those pesky computer pick up tie wraps.
Happy Easter everybody...off to an Easter feast....got in a quick ride in this morning. Quick change with a cheap seat from my old parts drawer and what a difference.

Thanks. I had some other things I wanted backing up on a list so I found everything I wanted at CC also and placed an order including a 10' roll of the mylar tape.

I don't have any idea if this will work, but Radio Control model covering such as Super Monocote comes in clear and clear tinted colors. It is available in rolls with a heat activated adhesive and it also shrinks down with heat. It will stick to paint. It is also available with conventional tape like adhesive in smaller strips. The sock plastic on this is a strong Mylar. You'll find it at hobby shops.

I sure wouldn't go there. Introducing heat could effectively create too strong of a bond between the film and clearcoat because acrylic enamel clearcoats are softened with heat. When putting any protective film over your prize paint job you always want to err on the side of caution with a tried and true product. In this case...the 3M protective film which was developed to protect clearcoat on cars and the mylar tape I mentioned are developed with good but not too much adhesion...resistance against yellowing etc. I would be weary of experimentation...lol.
