I just cleaned out my closet - put all the 3X and 2X pants, t-shirts, skirts, sweat shirts & jackets in bags to donate. Ended up with 3 garbage bags full plus one bag of shoes (some of them too small - my feet are bigger than they were a few years ago!). Sure have a lot of room in that closet. I now weigh 35# less than I did at this time two years ago. I lost 20# in 2002, 15# in 2003. I sure feel better. Hope I can lose at least 20# in 2004. -- Donna in Idaho! Hey Donna, if you've still got the shoes, and you like them, hang onto them. I've gone from a size 9 to an 8 since loosing weight.
Keep up the good work.

This must be the weekend for closet cleaning. I packed up several bags of too-large clothes myself. Unlike you, I've still got my shoes to sort. So far, I haven't noticed any change in the size of my feet. Or maybe it's that I'm wearing thicker socks to keep my always-cold feet warm.
Anyway, what a nice beginning to the new year: decluttering clothes that have become too big.

Great NSV, but don't throw away those shoes yet Donna. I found after losing 30 lbs or so my shoes that I was wearing felt better and some that were so uncomfortable that I refused to wear them are now bearable. -- Brenda 209/176/150 NYNY goal 160

Good for you , Donna!!!! I'm sure you will lose at least 20.
WTG Donna! You are obviously on the right path, and letting go of those clothes must have felt like a real cleansing experience :-) Congratulations! So, are you off shopping for "temporary" clothes now then? Vanessa In OZ :-) Overall (Was 273- Current 214- Goal 160 to 140)

that is a great feeling and I will tell you the best side benefit is you actually end up wearing more of what you have because you can find it easier. Yes, it felt really good to put those 'bigggg' clothes in the bag. I actually have a whole bunch of t-shirts, pants and sweat shirts that I bought back before I started gaining more weight, so I already have some 'skinnier' clothes (if you can call XL skinny - guess it is skinny compared to 3X!). I practically live in sweat shirts in the winter & t-shirts in the summer. I will need some new 'dress-up' clothes before too long. However, we don't do dress up very often, so I won't need many in that category. -- Donna in Idaho! I should have said this also, the only thing on me that has ever been small is my feet, I had gotten to wear a size 7 and a half wide, I am now back to a six and a half regular, Lee Brenda Hammond <[email hidden]> wrote in message "]news:[email hidden]...

and I almost forgot, once you get the closet cleaned out you may have an overwhelming urge to clean elsewhere, that happened to me but I killed it quick, just kidding. seeing the progress in the closet, which represented the progress in my weight loss, motivated me to clean/sort/ declutter elsewhere in the house, which meant I moved more which meant I lose more, it is a really nice circle if you let it happen, Lee Donna in Idaho (remove invalid) <[email hidden]> wrote in message "]news:[email hidden]...

The next thing I need to declutter is my sewing room, but it's such a mess I try not to look at it! My DH was going to build some new shelves for me, but with his fractured ribs that will have to be put off for awhile. I know I'll have to clean up and declutter before the shelf building happens.

I am finding as I read that some of the same issues dealing with weight are present in clutter. I never set out to do any cleaning but I just started on the closets to find out if I had clothes to wear and I have kept going.I do it instead of formal exercise. I can't find an exercise that I can commit to so this will have to do for now. Does this give you an idea of how I hate exercise?
