  1. Anyone know where I can get clamp-on down tube bosses?

I want to install a set of Dura Ace 9-speed DT shifters on my wifes old Motobecane, but the bike
    doesn't have any bosses.

I once needed one of these. I located a thrift store that had some old beat up bikes for sale for $7
dollars and removed the clamp from it. I left the bike there.

The kind of small bike shop that sells hardly any complete bikes but has an old guy behind the
counter who has hoarded parts for the last 50 years. If you find such a shop, it's very useful.

One solution might be to use the separate clamp-on adaptor parts that are part of Shimano 105
6-speed clamp-on (and similar?) DT levers. (The levers themselves are like braze-on ones). Longer
    bolts may be required.

I've not tried this with braze-on levers so I'm not 100% sure it'll work but I do use the parts with
Campagnolo DT stops - works very well.

Lots of old bikes had clamp-on DT shifters. I would expect Shimano to actually make 9-speed shifters
of this sort, but they will be hard to find.

You can also get clamp-on cable stops and use STI.

There is lots and lots of old clamp on stuff out there. The majority of it will not accept current index shifters that mount to what could be refered to as a 'standard braze on boss'. Shimano does not currently offer one either. As one poster sid,you might get lucky on 1 out of 100 or 200 thrift store examples, but they ae not common. www.loosescrews.com might have them, or as another suggested,an old guy at an old shop.

That's it! For some reason I couldn't find it before while searching that site. Thanks for
    your help.
