  1. I am on a ckd regimen. Have been for a while now. At work we are having
a blood drive and was just wondering if maybe I would be doing something
bad by donating blood? I have Lyle's ketogenic diet book. An excellent
resource but this is some minor detail I can't find covered.
Is being on a ketogenic diet hinder my body's ability to recover lost
blood more or less easily? Does it matter at all?

    Never hurt me...

Ever since I started eating a ketogenic diet, my blood counts are higher
than they have ever been. ;-) My doc' says it's due to all the meat I
    eat.

Used to have to fight anemia, (most likely due to a really crappy "SAD"
diet, aka Standard American Diet), now my Hematocrit (packed cell
volume) runs 43 to 45% even after donating blood.

Just do NOT work out the day that you do donate, and drink plenty of
    fluids.

We have regular blood drives at work every two to three months.

This time they are giving away a nice gimee hat! If it starts early
enough, I might stay over and donate. I work graveyard shifts now...
