Well, if you consider that Cofidis may be stocking the stable in case the Pro Tour and the 3 Grand Tours do get it worked out, he'd have a ready-made headline-maker for the Giro while keeping Stuey fresh for Le Tour. All these teams are having to stock so many riders this year. I'm glad to see Cipo just a little longer, even if he's a shadow of his younger self. When I saw him at the Tour de Georgia he rode well enough and was a hell of an ambassador to the sport. So much so that it was striking. I hope it works out. -Kristin

Velonews is reporting that Cipollini is close to signing a deal with Cofidis..
This immediately makes me think of two things:
1) Michele Scarponi has already signed with Cofidis 2) Cipollini persuaded management not to select Scarponi for the Giro d'Italia
Hmm. Perhaps we have a high-level stalking case on our hands? Or maybe he just wants to be a lead-out man for Stuart O'Grady. (Right)

No such a stupid idea to have Cipo as a leadout. What else can sprinters who've lost that little something extra shoot for other than trying to pay back the debt they owe to those that sacrificed for them by sacrificing for others. See Zabel's comments about wanting to spend a couple of years as a lead out man for someone like Alan Davis. Of course Zabel is a class act all the way. A rider's rider. Cipo...

If I was going to build a team from scratch I'd start with Zabel and Udo Bolts because that gives you a bunch of one day and stage wins with Udo being able to lead other riders too. Bill C

My how the sobriquet "dumbass" has devaluated. You even use it for someone with whom you agree on all points.
You just noticed that?
Dumbass.

Yeah, well he went into my killfile about a year and a half ago, so I haven't read one of his posts until recently when I reinstalled my mailer software.
