Cinelli Mecano? Anyone?

Phat - I hear you! Did a few months on a Trek 7.6 flat bar before springing on a new Cervelo - after a looong hiatus from cycling - [I'm 43, but strong rather than very fit - but get out every day now.] Keeping a solid 35>40kms now, so it's all good. :-)

The Cinelli you are looking at is the second top of the line after the XLR8R - yes it's Italian & Columbus - great pedigree. The Veluta wheels are nice - it's a great bike. Full carbon & a yummty colour scheme.

BTW my riding buddy got a Cinelli [XLR8R] ex-demo and it's a *great* bike. He loves it! Same wheels & Chorus gruppo - I imagine that bike bug or Excelpro [distributors] are behind your deal - at that price I'd say go for it 100%. You won't be sorry! That same spec is on Ebay for $6000 no offers - so I say ot's a good deal!

And the colour scheme of that bike [especially if the Vuelta wheels are black] is totally bling.

- Yes Excel Pro but not BikeBug (the guys in there are either on EPA? or Too much sugar... I could not wait to get out of there)
- 3 years from 40, wanna make sure I look good when mid-life hits me!
- deciding whether I should go the extra mile & get Chorus gruppo & keep it all Italian.
- though I would prefer the bike to be off-white with the tomato red!

The Excelpro guys do a good deal - I am about to spring for Some Vuelta Xlite wheels [black of course] to put some extra cafe cred on the Cervelo. Half the pleasure is 2 coffees after riding!

Where are you training? Doing the gong ride this year?

- after much agonising I could not justify the Camp gruppo for now, but in a few years time when I am no longer a starter (also, must having something to move up to!)... So for now full Ultegra, including pedals & wheel set.
- After discussion's with a few seasoned riders they all agreed that the new Ultegra wheels are much better than the Vuelta Xlite wheels - though if I went the Camp route I was to get the Zonda G3 wheel set.
- also got a new Catlike helmet as my Giro Atmos has not got the Aust Stands compliance sticker.
- & a pair of WHITE Sidi Genious 5.5 HT Carbon slippers
- white seat & bar tape
- currently my training involves cycling from Darlinghurst to C/Park for an hour of circuit work every 2nd morning at 0600
- Gong ride not yet - but maybe next year as a goal!
- but for now I have to get up to speed, hence the early rides when it not too busy till I am brave enough to turn up at Latteria (those riders are just too hard-core for me at the moment & later... LOL).

oooh - white seat, bar tape & shoes! you will be a real showpony!

On a serious note - sounds great! The full ultegra won't let you down. The Sidi shoes are the bomb - I have the Mega Genius for my wide feet and they are total slippers. I'm still gonna buy the wheels - just because they'll look so nice on the bike....and I can just wear them out training.

We have a small group - 2 or three - that leave surry hills for CP every dry morning sometimes La Perouse on the weekend before the traffic starts - mail me at [email hidden] if you want to come out with a tiny bunch one morning! We do leave at 5.30 [the Arthur St crew] but pick up our mate Paul at the gates at quarter to 6 when he isn't swimming at Victoria Park. We tand to gee each other up a little - which is good for the leg conditioning!

And yeah - the Latteria / Coluzzi bunch average Waterfall in 2 hrs 15 - quite a few off season pros ride with them - so they are totally hardcore - but it's all good.
