  1. #2 daughter works for a seafood importer......... hence we get cheap
    seafood for Christmas :-)

She's just sent me a whole range of new products that they are carrying.

This Christmas is going to be a slightly different one from previous years.

    For a start, there's these........

    http://www.kinkawooka.com.au/pdf/Kinkawooka_Recipe_Flyer.pdf

NB. on the last page under fail safe tips..........

"Don’t throw out the un-opened ones, prise open with a knife - they’re safe
    to eat"

I *knew* I was right all these years!!

We also have other new items such as Magaso, Arctic Surf Clams (their
tongues!!) Sea scallops frozen fresh on the boat within 1 hour of capture,
and easy snap crab claws (they've been laser scored for ease of access!!)

They look very different and tasty. You've got to stop with this stuff.
I'm still figuring out your Wattle Seed thread 😉

I'm betting those are absolutley delish. I know you'll keep us posted.
I'm getting ready for Thanksgiving. I'm just in the mood this year.
    Bleh.

    ......

Interesting in light of the following, which relates to frozen NZ mussels
    rather
than the chilled ones you speak of, but still surprising in its
    forcefulness:

My query to Aquaculture NZ, which markets frozen mussels into the US:

    Sent: 21 April 2007 9:39 AM
    To: Nicola Symonds
Subject: frozen mussels that do not open
This may be a silly question...

I have had a few of your mussels not open when cooked properly. Is this

a problem (as it is with live mussels) or can they all be eaten? Are there

    any guidelines for this concern?

    The response:

    Hi .....

If mussels do not open when heated then you should not eat them. Instead
    discard all unopened mussels

I hope that answers your query if you require further information please
    feel free to contact me

    Regards

    Nicola Symonds
