Yup, 2 reasons:

1. you save "24 grams", that's "24 grams" if you get the Chorus long cage
rear der (217g for Chorus; 241g for Centaur)

2. you get that black "carbon" look with Chorus; silver with Centaur

No, even look to the Veloce rear der-all are the same with differences
in materials only. Less aluminum, more steel.

A chorus derailleur has a cool "groove" in the upper shoulder with a
see-through hole that lets you see part of the upper jockey wheel.
The Centaur derailleur is solid aluminum in the upper shoulder, like
most derailleurs.

Chorus = See-through
Centaur = Burka

I would probably get the Centaur hubs has it basically has all the same
innards of Record and Chorus. In fact, it *only* weighs about 15g more (265g
vs. 250g for Record rear hub, both WITHOUT skewers).

Similarly, I think the ergo levers has basically the same innards as Record
and Chorus too.

Depends on what you value.

Centaur-Chorus-Record= same hub, chainring quality

MIR-VEL-CEN same arm, BB, caliper quality

all models= same Ergo service parts; same derailleur design
with material substitution

Centaur Ergo innards are virtually the same Veloce & Mirage's. Chorus &
Record have ball bearings. They're all very similar, really, apart from
Xenon.

Veloce with Centaur hubs and the new Centaur BB-
