  1. Almost two weeks ago I began taking chlorella (Swanson Kyoto Brand).
Varying dosages at first, altho I've now settled on 5 mg. a day,
    divided into 3 doses.

Unless it's the "placebo effect", I believe I've begun (in the past
4 days or so) to feel increased energy, increased sex drive
(yahoo!!!),and increased clarity in mental functioning! (I'm 46 btw.)

If I'm not mistaken, it's important to take a brand that processes
it so the cell wall is broken down properly. Swanson Kyoto Brand (from
swansonvitamins.com, just to give them a plug!) claims superior
absortion to most others. Sun brand chlorella claims the same
absortion rate, but is more expensive!

Anyway.....that's my two cents on chlorella!!!!

It's the placebo effect. But I'm glad it's working for you.

Umm, David is now diagnosing over the net.

He is a member of organized medicine, therefore don't expect him to tell the
truth. He, like the rest of the *gang* pushes drugs, and anything natural is
critricized, as a big bad supplement.

    The facts:

    http://www.drlaurathompson.com/OldFiles/heavy_metal_toxicity.htm

The cream-of-the-crop detoxifiers are the algaes. Chlorella or green algae has
been researched for years, especially in Japan for its ability to bind with
toxic metals in the body. My experience has led me to the freshwater blue green
algae from Klamath Lake in Oregon. Between the chlorophyll, the chelated
minerals, and the amino acids, this algae gives those toxic metals a run for
their money! It is very effective in supporting the immune system in this
    process.

    http://www.vancouvernaturopath.com/mercury.html

    SUPPORTIVE SUPPLEMENTS

There are a number of nutritional supplements such as antioxidants that are
recommended to support this process. Chlorella is an algae that absorbs toxins
in the gut and prevents them from being reabsorbed with the bile salts in the
lower intestine. Sulphur amino acids such as found in Whey powder or MSM aid
the excretion of the metals. Cilantro aids mercury excretion especially from
the brain. Liver herbs or nutrients help the liver filter the blood and remove
    mercury and other toxins.

    http://www.wanttobewell.com/articles15.htm

Cilantro chelates mercury.   Eating cilantro blended with olive oil and garlic
as a pesto can be eaten, and also it can be taken as an herbal extract 10 drops
in water 2x/day, 5 days on, 2 days off, but taken on the day of the procedure.
It is important to get organic cilantro, to make it less likely to get cilantro
that has already chelated mercury from its environment.  Chlorella is a type of
algae that also binds mercury.  It can be taken 8-10 capsules or tablets daily
in divided doses as tolerated (can cause intestinal upset in high doses).  It
can be used as a mouth rinse immediately after the dental procedure by chewing
the tablet form.  Chlorella likewise must be mercury free, and must be obtained
from a reputable company that has the GMP label (Good Manufacturing Practices),
and that can verify that it monitors for the presence of heavy metals.

Quite surprising. I never thought I would see Jan emphatically agree that
    an alternative remedy is fraud.

  11. I just knew that when I posted the original message in this thread,
people would show up and start claiming that chlorella is a fraud.
    Hey.....no problem.
I'm grateful that after trying many different supplements, that I
stumbled on chlorella, and I'm more convinced than ever of it's
    positive effects.

It's a shame the nay-sayers are missing out on such a good thing.

By the way....if chlorella IS a fraud, then why is it the most popular
supplement in Japan ? I've never thought of the Japanese as being
    particularly stupid or gullible !!!!

  12. A combination of Cilantro and Chlorella were shown to mobilise mercury from
    the CNS.
I'd rather use something natural and 'safe' than some noxious intravenous
    chemical.

Jan is selective about accepting anecdotes. When anecdotes are
favorable to alternative medicine she accepts them; when they are not
favorable, she does not. Objectivity at its finest.
