That'd be your "Easter's just around the corner" season promo.
(Orthodox Easter is coming up this Sunday -- and guess who got an invite
to dinner at the home of the worst cook in the family?? It's also my
    40th wedding anniversary. What we both put up with. . . . ) (*^;*)

Ooppss, I bet that slipped out and now you will get all these
    congratulatory posts. :o)

Let me be the first one: Happy Fortieth Anniversary to you and Rob
and may you celebrate many, many more in happiness with the rest of
    your loved ones.

screw the congratulatory posts -- send money. LOL!
(And you were the first one with a gift -- except for me and Rob -- we
exchanged presentries a few weeks ago.) Now I have to remind my kids.
    .. . . :-)

Wow - 40 years! You have been married almost as long as I have been
alive. 🙂 That's mind boggling to a "relative newlywed" (5 years).

Scary, isn't it? <grin> I was young, although not SO terribly for the
time. "-) We now live in an age of Starter Marriages and Throwaway
Spouses and the disintegration of the family unit. That's not what we
signed up for. There've been bumps and potholes but we laugh and say
that neither of us is interested in breaking in someone new. I'm always
amazed by the people who are impressed with anyone who's been married
longer than, say, 8 years. I always figured I'd only marry once.

Darn, you beat me to it, Margaret! Happy Anniversary! I'm only going on a
year and a half of marriage; you've definitely got me beat. :~)

Thanks, Kili. He's a good man, a wonderful father, and a great Grandpa.

    Bloomer Droppers

Recipe By: Posted again to rfc by Barb Schaller, 4-20-0=2006
    Preparation Time: 0:00
    Categories: Beverages

    Amount Measure Ingredient Preparation Method
    6 ounces lemonade concentrate
    6 ounces vodka
    18 ounces water
    1 peach
    powdered sugar

Blend together and freeze for slush drink. Four times the recipe will
    fill an ice cream bucket.
    ‹‹‹‹‹

    From CDKitchen.com (Hi, Val!!)

    Better Than Sex Cake

1 box dark chocolate cake mix
    1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 jar (12 oz) Mrs Richardson's caramel topping
8 ounces whipped topping (Extra Creamy Dream Whip is good)
2 Heath candy bars, crushed (or Nestle's Heath bits, if you can
    find them)

Bake the cake as directed. As soon as it comes out of the oven, poke
holes all over it with a fork (I actually use a small diameter chop
stick) and pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, followed
by caramel sauce (microwaved about one minute until warm and easily
pourable - I use only about 10 oz of the jar). Refrigerate overnight.
Shortly before serving, spread whipped topping over cake and sprinkle
with crushed Heath bars (or bits). Enjoy.
This recipe for Better Than Sex Cake serves/makes 10.

    3RD LAYER:

2 (3 oz.) pkgs. instant pudding (chocolate)
    3 c. cold milk

    4TH LAYER:

1 lg. carton Cool Whip (minus the 2 c. used for 2nd layer)

Mix flour and butter and press into bottom of 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 20
minutes at 325 degrees. Cool completely.
Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar and 2 cups Cool Whip with mix and
    spread over cooled crust. Refrigerate.
Mix pudding mix with milk and pour over cream cheese layer. Cover top

Dierbergs had a 24 hour sale today. Purdue whole chickens were 49 cents a
pound. I bought 16 of them ranging in weight from 5 1/2 pounds up to 6
pounds and a few ounces. I'll be making lots of stock this weekend to put
    up in the freezer.

Cub has bone-in, skin-on chicken breasts for $1 a package this week - no
    limit. Two breasts per package.

Must be turning over the stock of birdies. "Off with their heads!"

Maybe they're trying to cull the large flocks in anticipation of bird
flu coming. In that event, I would hope they'd slaughter and
incinerate, but I doubt the health departments could countermand Big
    Business's demands.

That's how I figured as well, but I waited until I was 35 to marry.
Marriage is work - making the committment to stick it out through the
troughs is hard. It would be so easy to say "see ya later" and walk
away - and I see why people do it. I don't know any marriage that
hasn't had ups and downs - I think that's just the nature of the beast.
Staying with the beast and coming out better afterward is what
    marriage is all about.

as a gift, read the directions, and make a couple of rotisserie chickens.
Only 4 packages were allowed but I was running all over the place today and
hit 4 seperate stores. I got 8 packages of baby back ribs and 4 enormous
    pork loins.

I bought two chickens there. Yesterday, I grilled/smoked them over
hickory wood and basted them with Maull's, to which I'd added Pure Cap.
I used the backs and gizzards/hearts to make a broth, which I used to
boil and mash red potatoes. I also did some rib tips
    ($1.29#@Schnuck's).

I can beat that -- last week Treasure Island here in Chicawgo (my main
store) had skin - on, bone - in breast for .$.79/pound. At times
boneless, skinless breasts have been $.99/pound. Been eatin' LOTS of
    chicken...

Gah. You guys have been making me jealous. Chicken was expensive
    this week -- I bought 3 large breasts for $11. $5/pound, I guess. And
I can't ever find any wings/necks/pieces parts for making stock, so I
    guess they don't sell them.
The pre-packaged pre-seasoned pre-cooked Tyson chicken this week was
half the price of the fresh chicken. Made me want to cry.
Nothing is ever cheap here in Kansas. They ship out the good stuff to
you guys and we're left with the [censored]. The little bit of good meat or
produce left behind costs an arm and a leg. I suppose I could live on
fish fingers and Tuna Helper, but I'd like to not die before I'm 40.

Caray! Yeah, that's the ticket!! Harry Belafonte, dearie. Island in

Stacia, the only place I can find backs and necks for soup is in a
privately owned butcher shop where they actually cut the meat that goes
into the cases. And there's a local chain, Von Hanson's, that will
order a box (something like 20-40#) of frozen backs. I've done that.
Check an independent butcher ‹ surely they exist there.
