all get covered... :/ Andy Hass -

Oh my god Andy....geeezzz.....elite in my book for sure. Curious...are you seeded so you don't have
to line up early and be in the mass of at-large runners? What model shoes are you wearing and how many miles will you have on them on race day?
What do you expect to do during the race hydration/nutrition-wise? Meaning...at some point in the
race are you doing Gels? Do you have a personal hydration approach/strategy w/the water stations? What position does a time like your goal more or less get you in Chicago?
Andrew....

Since you've been looking at that web site -- did you find any information about TV coverage ? It
looks like they had some coverage last year, but I wasn't able to find anything about it this year.
With the zillions of BS cable channels they have in the US, you'd think they'd manage to squeeze it
in somewhere.Cheers,

Oh my god Andy....geeezzz.....elite in my book for sure. Curious...are you seeded so you don't
have to line up early and be in the mass of at-large runners?----I WISH. I spent 4 months petitioning for an elite start or anything resembling one, based on my
2:29:27 PR and the 3-minute improvement in my half marathon since then. No replies, it just messed
up my entry (ended up with two, got one refunded, still got 2 race #s, big mess). Then I find out
the guy who finished 20 sec behind me last year (I remember passing him about a mile from the
finish) got an elite start. HUH??? I think it is kind of ridiculous that about 40-50 people are
going to show up to try for 2:22 and they have to all start with the "competitive" group which goes
back to about 3:05-3:10 I believe. 3+ is still a great time don't get me wrong, but it's kind of
ridiculous to start 2:22-2:25 people together with them. The big problem is that my 2:22:00 Trials
qualifier MUST be gun time, not chip time. So if I get stuck 10 seconds behind the line and run
2:21:55 chip time I don't get to go.Quoted message said:
What model shoes are you wearing and how many miles will you have on them on race day?
Adidas Cubato. Very light shoe, but I'm efficient so I get away with it despite my relatively heavy
weight (147 currently). I put about 20 miles on them before the race. I have another pair with 40 on
them but I won't use them because they wear into my feet a little more. As it is I will have to
pre-wrap my right heel to prevent early blisters.Quoted message said:
What do you expect to do during the race hydration/nutrition-wise? Meaning...at some point in the
race are you doing Gels? Do you have a personal hydration approach/strategy w/the water stations?---Gatorade every stop (as much as I can get in from one cup). I will have 3-4 gels with me too. One
around 8-10, one 13-15, and one 18-20. Maybe the 4th for a spare just in case... My station strategy
is to accelerate into them and slow slightly as I try to get the gatorade in, then accelerate out
again to hold roughly an even pace overall.Quoted message said:
What position does a time like your goal more or less get you in Chicago?
---My 2:29:27 got me like 73rd overall last year. A 2:22 would probably put me in the top 40 even
this year. Andy Hass -

didn't bother contacting me despite my former attempts to get into this. Word-of-mouth filled it up
almost overnight. Way for them to be organized, now I'm even more bitter :/ Thanks again though,
that very nearly ended up being a HUGE favor to me! Andy Hass -
Sometimes Fox Sports broadcasts it. I know they did a couple of years ago. You might look at their
line up. Maybe one of the other sports channels is broadcasting it. www.tvguide.com should tell you.jOe
