The clock radio went off early on the local news station. There was a discussion about using in-season cherries in brownies... and how the cherries made them less heavy and more anti-oxidant rich.
That didn't get me -- but the sound of the other radio host chewing and lip smacking did. She recited the recipe but it wasn't like I have a pad and pen next to the bed...
Would appreciate a recipe.
Thanks.

Less heavy, huh? I've been know to put dollops of my Cherry Jam (maybe 1/2 cup total) on brownie batter and then swirl it around with a knife or spoon before baking. I've eaten worse. 0*^;^*0 Have never done it with fresh cherries. -- -Barb, <http://www.jamlady.eboard.com> 6/17/05 Pictures & story from Notable Women's Dinner at the Governor's Residence.

You're an evil, evil woman! I'm going to have to request that or local store that carries Gedney stuff start stocking your cherry stuff. I can get the peach melba, but haven't seen the new stuff yet. *sigh*

What I would try is making a regular brownie recipe but substituting some of the fat for mashed up cherries. I'd also probably halve some cherries and mix them into the batter before baking - that's my take.
It really is a scrumptious idea. I wish cherries were cheaper in San Francisco.

Hey, *I* have a hard time getting the Peach Raspberry stuff - sporadic from Cub to Cub, Byerly's has the whole line of products. -- -Barb, <http://www.jamlady.eboard.com> 6/17/05 Pictures & story from Notable Women's Dinner at the Governor's Residence.

Family reunion this weekend, I found a recipe on r.f.r. for Chocolate Drizzled Cherry Bars. It uses pie filling. I'll use Cherry Jam. Will report back next week if I remember. -- -Barb, <http://www.jamlady.eboard.com> 6/17/05 Pictures & story from Notable Women's Dinner at the Governor's Residence.
