I think I found my absolute new favorite cooking device.
One of those 10 dollar blue and white stock pots I got at Walmart.
Is it my imagination or are they great?
Or am I full of culinary blasphemy?

If they weren't really useful, they wouldn't still be around -
Spatterware, Granitewear, whatever ... our grannies used 'em and so do
I. ;-) If you have some lying around and you don't like them, put them
in an auction - collectors love them!

Porcelainized is a holdover from the pre stainless steel cookware
days... a dinosaur, from when porcelainized was the only non-reactive
metal cookware... still works fine but is fragile as it chips easily,
and once chipped needs to be tossed in the trash.

They are great. I love them because they don't burn so easily like thinner
wall steel alone does. But if they chip, toss them - they leach all kinds
of bad things into food after that.

I'm coming into this discussion late. I have a small graniteware stock
pot that is now ruined because it looked really nice with a potted
geranium in it last year but I forgot it out and the water in the bottom
froze. I had a huge graniteware bwb canner. After years of use, I
tossed it because wherever it got a dent it started rusting and the rack
was rusting as well. I bought a nice SS roating pan to replace my
graniteware roaster but I kept the graniteware roaster specifically to
roast tomato sauce in on the bbq. It also doubles as my baked bean pan
when making them on the bbq. I have a smaller round graniteware
casserole style round pan that is just big enough to fit a chicken in
for roasting on the bbq. I have two other graniteware roasters - a huge
one for those really big turkeys and a smaller one but these are only
for oven use not on the bbq. So as far as blasphemy goes I think you
are just fine 🙂 Now for stock pots, I have 4. Three are a matching
set in various sizes and the other has two sizes of steamer inserts.
All are stainless steal and I highly recommend them. Unlike the
graniteware if you get a dent it won't rust.

Rusting is not the reason for tossing... once they chip they're apt to
chip further with each subsequent use... porcelain is glass, need I say
more.

They are good. However I use mine (the really large one) for dyeing
fabric LOL.
