contacting them. John Gaughan's e-mail address is on the
recfoodcooking.org site; John Robinson's can be found by doing a whois
search on recfoodcooking.org, or else Barb probably can help.

newsgroup and the amount of time it takes getting sucked into threads. I
do read via Google but somehow this one slipped past me.

2. I update the site when I receive emails from people.

Apparently some people are upset because the site is out of date,
however, I receive about one email per month and update it as needed.

I have NOT been in touch with John Robinson for several months. I do not
know his intentions regarding the domain name registration.

If someone else wants to take over the site, that is fine with me. I can
zip up the files and email it wherever it is needed. Just let me know if
you are changing the DNS so I can remove the site from my hosting
account. This is a very low-maintenance site so I don't mind hosting it,
but I can go either way. It doesn't bother me.

I'm in favor of you continuing to maintain it as long as you're willing,
John. And thank you for doing so. And for explaining "how it works";
i,e,, that all anyone has to do is contact you with something they'd
like included.

Well, it is not as though much has changed in this respect. The number
of posts has stabilised and even declined a bit over the past five years
or so. Use your killfile judiciously and you will instantly discover
that there is only a relatively small number of posts and threads worth
bothering with.

Thank you very much, John! I, for one, am very grateful indeed for your
adopting much of the Damsel's old site and keeping it up. Still, I have
to say that I personally find some of what you write above a bit less
than ideal. People are often reluctant to send e-mails to someone they
don't know personally. They post something and, when nothing happens,
that is usually the end of it. Ideally, one has to be there to see
those posts.

Personally, the only thing I want is for the site to be more or else
true to its purpose, i.e. providing certain info, which has to be
current. The only reason I want it at all, is because its link is in
the FAQ. If the site disappears, I will put some of the info in the FAQ
directly, namely the IRC chat links. I say all of this to show how
limited my personal involvement in the matter is. If you are going to
maintain the site and do it regularly, there is nothing more I could
wish for. If not, I'd rather you make arrangements with someone else to
take over the site.

Now, to explain the reason of my participation in this thread.... A few
weeks ago, someone (Cathy?) asked me if I can arrange for the FAQ links
to be updated on the recfoodcooking.org site. That's when Barb tried to
contact you. The updated links in question are:

RFC FAQ: no frames <http://vsack.homepage.t-online.de/rfc_faq0.html>

Then, someone (rmg?) asked if the rfc "chat" link is in the FAQ and I
replied that, indirectly, it is supposed to be there, via the
recfoodcooking.org link. Damsel's old site namely contained some of the
following info, in its own "chat" section, IIRC.

Yup that was me. I was just hoping that the site would be updated a
little more often, and was wondering if it had been "abandoned". If John
is still willing and able to do updates etc., that's also fine with me.
However, the offer to take over still stands, if John ever wishes to do so.
