Chains and pins recommended ?

Always use a quick link when connecting any chain. Pushing pins in can lead to failures.

KMC and I see that in 2003, they are still using KMC as original Equipment

Of the chains you listed below, I would recommend either of SRAM Because of the reusable
PowerLink. Though expensive, the Shimano Chain pins are really only a little more than $1 apiece.
The $6 I believe is for a package of 5. Each SRAM Chain comes with an included PowerLink. There
are discounters like JensonUSA jensonusa.comchains.aspOpen ↗ that sell 3 standard
length SRAM chains cheaper than buying a single 11ft chain.

I would also recommend the KMC Z9000 that is OEM on current RANS.

I've used both Shimano and SRAM (Sachs) chains for many years, and do not have a complaint with either. I find the SRAM Powerlink easiest to connect, but this is a very minor detail.

Either way, I'd recommend a (zinc or nickel) plated chain for longest life, especially if you ride in damp conditions (such as the SRAM PC-69 or Shimano HG-7701). From your list, the PC-99 or the HG-93 would yield longest life.

If you have a chain tool, you can put your own together (just make sure you loosen up the tight links where you connected the chains). Ordering from a place like Price Point will save you bucks.

While you're at it, get a Park Tools chain checker to keep an eye on "stretch."

I ended up purchasing 3 SRAM PC-99 Chain because of the power links.

I can't believe that the DuraAce was cheaper and I did not buy it!

But, the powerlinks would not work with the Shimano chain.

A second thanks to Cletus --Jenson USA had the lower price when I checked.

Nice theory, but in practice:

o they've changed the model by the time you next need a new one, or o you can't find the bits of the
old one anyway
