Chain Lube (If you even use the stuff)

I'm a roadie, and boarderline obsessive about keeping my bike clean.
I've tried just about every chain lube known to human-kind, and the
best one, by far, is ProLink Gold.

You would do well to do both a Google search and a search of Google
Groups for this topic.

Much has been argued, long and forcefully, over the millenia, about
chain cleaning and lubrication.

It is a subject of great controversy, rife with strong opinions and
closely-held beliefs.

My advice:
- do the search
- pick a lube that interests you
- try it out for a while
- pick another one
- try it out for a while
- decide which seems to work well for you

After--oh, say 10 or 12 times discussing chain lubes, most
contributors to bicycling forums tire of the topic, so you wind up
getting one or two-word answers (eg, "Triflow," "Prolink," "White
Lightning"😉 with even less supporting information than the first time
it was discussed.

Go do a little digging. If there are specific questions, I'm sure
people here would be happy to help.

I'm both cheap and a lazy bast**D when it comes to cleaning..I use ATF.

I use 2 cycle engine oil / lube, not too thin, not to thick. It does attract
dirt / dust, but I clean every 400 or 500 miles so not too bad, and I never
go *off-road*.

I'm still a hot-waxer at heart. I hot wax the chains on my "good
bikes". On my others (MTB, touring bike) I use White Lightning. Why?
Several years ago our race team got White Lightning free. I guess
inertia has kept me with it.

If you actually read the above, ignore the part about Shimano's black
pins. I'm now convinced they actually serve a purpose. Actually two
purposes; the one Shimano intended, and driving me to Forster (nee
Craig) Super Links.

I've used them all, they all suck. I currently also use ProLink because
it perhaps sucks an infinitesimal bit less, but I may just think that
because it was the last thing I tried. I wouldn't obsess over it.
