Only used mine once so far, don't remember any problems apart from spilling the gunky fluid at the end.

$80 seems a bit steep, even the Park tool is only $60 at Phantom. I have a BBB one and find it works well. If your bike is not
mounted in a workstand or otherwise held securely these can be a bit difficult to use unless you have three hands - hold bike,
steady chain cleaner, turn cranks.

I usually just use a rag or a brush & a bucket of water with a cheap detergent or citrus clean. For the times I want it really
clean I have another cleaner which cost me about $1:80, but I had to drink the Coke first.

Put it in a smaller gear do the chain tension isn't as tight......

$80? ouch!
I have one. Its easier than taking the chain off, and flexes the links
while brushing in the solvent. Works well.

That happens to me when the chain is very dirty. You need to hold the
contraption with one hand, while turning the crank with the other.
After a while, the chain should loosen so you don't need to hold
the gadget.

One other note. Be sure to rinse it well from the degreaser after use.
I lost a set of brush wheels which got brittle and broke.
