why do some women want their own forum? short answer - who needs a sausage fest and smart ass
remarks? long answer- safe place to discuss anything from labia chafing, best sports bra, riding
with cramps, how to deal with menstrual flow while riding, confidence, weight and fear issues,
riding with men who think they know what's best for you.... without male commentary.

I"m still wondering why I'd want to go from an international forum to a small regional one. Even the
all women's cycle board I go to is international.

I"ll bite... I went and looked, six guys or so waxing eloquent about Niki Gudex and how women on
bikes are cool...I can get that here, don't need to go to a women's sub section of a regional board
to do that.

I'll bite.

Most sports forums are male-dominated, and consequently it's easier to find experts in male issues
in these forums ... and harder to find experts in female issues, ranging from bike choice to padded
short choice to how to handle a long ride + heavy period, or how far into pregnancy you can do what.

If most sports forums were as female-dominated as in fact they are male-dominated, you might be
tempted to look for a forum that catered to your own needs better, too.

It's everywhere, dude. Go to the PSIA website, and you'll see that apparently, women are a "special
needs" category in skiing, like children and the elderly. Men are considered the baseline in sports.

There is plenty of information that applies on both sides of the gender line ... but some stuff
just doesn't.

Mind you, personally, I prefer mixed company -- but that's not everyone's cup of tea.

Go ahead, if you want, and create a men's mountain biking forum. What I think you'll find is that no
one sees much need, simply because the existing forum fills that niche well enough. There are enough
men here that the answer to a male-specific question will in all likelihood be found. The same
simply doesn't hold true for women.

things to share and thought some of our local women could benefit from it. I know you don't need it,

First, thank you for the compliment about my contributions, that was very nice. I apologize about
coming across a little heavy regarding the CV forum post, I wanted to clarify what I am looking for.
It's real easy to dash out a quickie reply to the ng that doesn't always have thought behind it.

I've looked for years for a decent women's cycling forum, because it is an strong interest of
mine. One of the things I've come to the conclusion of is, that for this idea to really work, it
has to be a guy free zone. Other wise it can turn into fairly useless conversation that doesn't
have any depth when it come to the issues that some women want to talk about with even helpful
comments from guys.

Enough traffic to make a forum interesting is the other think I look for. I'm not willing to create
content, so there better be some. Maybe I'll check back in six months.
