  1. I am scoring a new bike from Rivendell. Instead of bar ends, I would
prefer to use Ergo shifters (never tried bar ends, but like Ergo a lot
on my other 2 bikes). Chorus Ergos are about $75 more than Centaur.
If the Chorus shifters are more robust or work better, I would happily
spend the extra money. If the only differences are in weight and
bragging rights, I will go with Centaur shifters.

    What do you think?

Carbon Fiber Chorus saves 51 grams over Aluminum Alloy Centaur. Insides seem to work the same to me.
Peter Chisholm sell a lot of Campy; maybe he will chime in.

  3. Guts-wise, the Chrous has bearing and the Centaur has a bushing about which
the mechanism functions. I would think in this type of service it would
make much difference as it's not a hub or BB.

I think you meant to say it wouldn't make much difference.

Add carbon shift levers/brake lever and a ball bearing innard(that does
nothing) instead of a brass bushing and you get Chorus...Not smoother,
not longer lasting...Centaur for 2006 is the best value-Record w/o the
    carbon and titanium....

  7. I find my Centaur levers to work as well as Chorus. Crashing with CF levers makes me nervous, so I was disturbed to see that Campy has gone to CF for the latest Centaur.

  8. The ball-bearing mechanism in theChorus levers last a lot longer, at least
    mine have.
I've gone 6-8 years on average with my Chorus levers and no problems, knock
    on alluminum:-]

I'm one of those who also wishes they would continue to offer the alluminum
version of the levers. There are many, many scraped alluminum versions out
there, including mine. A friend had a minor crash the other day and when we
picked his bike up his right Record CF lever was cracked...
