Yeah, and they spent about 4 minutes on l'Alpe d'Huez, for a ride that took the leader almost 6
hours to do.

I watched a couple of minutes in a sports bar with the sound off. Not sure what I was watching, but
they were covering an individual time trial. Obviously not relevant to today's race. I'll go back to
watch OLN this evening.

The network coverage has always been focused on a simplistic GC battle. They are worried about
confusing the audience and they are sadly correct.

Just the same old stuff they've been putting out the past 20 years and will continue to produce
the next 20.

I remember NBC's wretched Sydney coverage, of the women's triathlon. OF course, it was the day after
it actually happened, and to add insult to injury, they had a musical soundtrack playing underneath
it. I'd already watched the event live on CBC, and I thought, "what the hell is this, figure
skating? We need music??"

Perhas a result of them having to sell feeds to numerous other countries?

Thank goodness for CBC, although some creeping "up close and personal" [censored] is beginning to infect
their coverage of the Olympic Games and various World Championships.

They are leagues ahead of USA coverage--CBC still knows that the important thing is to point a
camera at the event and show what is happening instead of the pablum that US based networks show.

now why isn't CBC available in U.S. markets? If we can buy Canadian drugs, why not subscriptions to
Canadian tv channels? Besides all the other TV stations you can subscribe to?

It is in the northern border states. Most of Washington has it (There was a big outcry when then TCI
tried to remove it from the cable package before one of the Olympics a few years ago) and I've heard
that states like Minnesota, Michigan, Vermot, etc. usually have it as well.

You're right though, their coverage of the commonwealth games was terrible this year. Usually they
cover everything, but this year it was just a couple of hours and they barely showed more than a
few minutes of anything. Track was nearly invisible, track cycling nearly forgotten, and yep,lots
of dumb sappy profiles. And worse, the men's time trial was preempted by the POPE who was visiting
toronto at the time and doing this huge Popealooza. I was furious at the CBC for running that
gaudy atrocity.

CBC television in Windsor, Ontario can be seen in most of southeast Michigan--Detroit and its
suburbs, where their coverage of ice hockey is much appreciated. It is also nice to get a non-U.S.
view of international news.

Additionally, CBC Radio Two is the only decent source for the Metropolitian Opera broadcasts in the
Detroit area.
