Cateye Micro CC-6000

Why not do it right and get a new harness? They're still
available from Cateye, at least they were about a year ago.
I ordered one from Cateye's North American Service Center in
Boulder. Call: 800-5-CATEYE.

If you can't manage to get it hooked up, I'd be
interested in buying
it.

Just try shorting pairs of contacts with a metal tool or a
piece of wire and see what happens. There are only 3
possibilities, two of which will work.

One will give you a cadence reading, one will give you a
speed reading and the third won't do anything.

aha, so only 2 of the 3 pins are actually neccassary.. well
that certainly makes sense since the magnet has only 2
wires! Thats what confused me. Thanx!

It's not that only 2 of the pins are necessary, it's that
the third pin is basically the ground wire. Therefore, the
two signal units have a common ground, which is a perfectly
reasonable thing to do.

At least, I think that's what's happening,

Right, if you don't want the cadence function. If you do
want it, you'll neee a second reed switch and a magnet on
the crank. One wire from each reed switch goes to the
common pin.

FWIW, looking at the back of a CC-6000, the left pin is
cadence, the center is common, and the right is speed. The
select button chooses whether to display speed or cadence.
There is no auto start/stop on this older model.
