Cassette/Freewheel Spacing

macallahan-<< I have an 8 speed Sachs freewheel on a 130 spaced Zipp 3spoke that I would like to use
on my TT bike.

<< I am using DA bar ends with a DA 7700 RD. It works fine with an 8 or 9 Shimano cassette.

Spacing is different for a 8s or 9s casette so unless the 8s is somehow spaced to 9s, cannot work.
The Sachs FW is spaced like a shimano 8s casette(brown spacers) and will not shift well with DA 9s
shifters of any kind.

<< Can one get one of these freewheels to work well with the Shimano set up?

Ah, but you're forgetting the alternate cable routing option at the rear derailer.

You wouldn't want to go back and forth frequently, 'cause you can only do that a couple of times
before the cable gets all frayed and needs to be replaced.

Thought that was for a set of DA 8s shifters and a 9s rder-on top cable mounting...

D-A 8 and Other Shimano 9-speed pull the same amount of cable per click

I've actually tried many combinations of shifting stuff. Shimano 9speed STI will work with 7, 8, or
9 Shimano spacing. As Sheldon says, you change the cable anchor point to the other side of the RD
(for 7, 8). The problem with what I am using seems to be in the FW spacing. I can get it to shift
across either the lower 5-6 cogs or the upper 5-6 cogs, but not all the way across. I thought maybe
