Just curious if people have a cassette for their racing wheels of if they
switch them back and forth the 5-6 times a year that you use them.

racing wheels than my training wheels. I also use a bit different
gearing. My training wheels are 11-23 and my racing wheels are 11-21.
I like just being able to switch them out quickly whenever I want.
Also, when I go to a race I can take both sets and if it is really
windy, dump my racing wheels ( they are HED 3's which are not always
the best in really windy weather ) and throw on my training wheels. -

are harder on the hills and require more gear changes but do the job of
training my legs for hills. I also will put the training wheel on the front
if its windy - too many scary moments on passing vehicles and gateways. The
rear on its own causes swerving in gusts but I loves them.

Mine are the same gearing but I use seperate casettes. I would much rather
not have to deal with the switching. By the way don't you guys who switch
gearing (11-21 to 11-23) find it hard toadjust. I know I know the gears
that I am comfortable in in different situations. I wouldn't be able to do
this if I switched.
Good Luck

No - if you switch cassettes then there is a chance that you would have to
change the chain as well. Also does it make any sense to train using one
cassette and have different gearing for the times you actually do a race?"RLIrwin" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

Just curious if people have a cassette for their racing wheels of if they
switch them back and forth the 5-6 times a year that you use them.Since I live at high altitude ( 7500 feet ), I do a lot of training on
hilly roads. Because of this, I like to have the 2 extra teeth on my
large ring in the back. Most races I do don't have quite as many
hills or quite as big so I like to shed the extra ring on the top side
and get a bit closer gearing over the whole cassette. I really don't
notice the difference unless I hit a really big hill and I find that I
cannot wimp out and shift down one more time. Makes me go faster
during the race. -
Depends on the profile of the Bike Course.I train using a 23-12 but also
have 21-11 and 25-13 for respectively flat or hilly profiles of courses
- interesting that commentators at Olympics said the guys were using
25's or 27's - so in a nutshell depends on the profile of the course.I do switch cassetes on and off my race wheels - but as mentioned in
previous posts you may need to change your chain if you do this.jquinn1 said:
