I am not distracted by such a nomination. The entire process of finalizing
(don't even suggest it's arbitration!) the penalties is so loaded that it
offends any student of dispute resolution.

The appeal panel must be composed of 2/3 national federation nominated
panelists, whose loyalty to disciplinary action, to their home federations,
and consequently to the UCI, is unquestioned.

Much better if the current Grand Tour cartel decided to use other governing
bodies, such as UFOLEP in France. I'll bet the US has its own version.

I've been advocating that for ages. And yes, the USA has a rival
association to the UCI but I forget what it is called and it isn't
very well active but does have spotty support across the country.

And for three seasons now I've personally had a UFOLEP license.

I'll never have a UCI License again

Admittedly, many of these are long gone, and some have changes names,
but there are still an incredible number that have disappeared
recently or were started up and run for a year or two before being
abandoned. And these are only the major events. Literally Thousands of
local and national events have disappeared too.

The problem is that no one can count on the UCI or the grand tour leaders to
be stable enough to support a real sport.

UCI made a huge mistake when they tried to take over cycling. That was a
silly move even coming from the sort of people who believe that insulting
their own member riders and trying to destroy their own sport instead of
trying to overcome the real problems is a logical way to go.

do you think the the result of the superbowl will be reversed 6 mos.
from now when plaxico buress is found to have taken kenacort for this
ankle.

do you even think there are post-superbowl dope tests ? no, the NFL
designed the system, so that can never happen. they're not stupid.

on the other hand everyone in cycling is. the UCI is a high school
clique, the team managers are all shady and the organizers are a bunch
of passive aggressive queens that will never take a stand.

Pretty much agreed. I'm not sure that cyclists bend the rules anymore
than in other sports we just handle it miserably.
