imo, you'll probably wait your entire life before you notice an effect. studies on carnitine and its
proclaimed effect are non-existant. its isolated as a peptide-transport for fatty acids (if i
remember correctly) - however, the dosages its sold in 500-600mg pills are just overkill...all
you're doing is peeing it out again.
if you have a balanced diet contining regular animal protein (dairy and meats), you're throwing your
money away. its questionable even for those with low protein diets even.
if you're using it as an ergogenic device, you are wasting your money. if you're using it as weight
loss, you're wasting your money - spend the $40 on some gym dues.
save your money, seriously.

It says here that it takes about four weeks for it to fully kick in, but the question is, how much
are you taking and why?
It's a natural compound produced in the body from lysine and methionine, abundant amino acids.
Supplements in excess of 5 grams a day can cause gastric distress and, well, *foul* odor.
If you eat a normal balanced diet, unless you are in serious training, you should produce all the
carnitine you can handle, plus some. And you'd save a heckuva lot of money to boot.

True, there is no RDA for carnitine, since it's produced naturally anyway, it would be covered by
the RDAs for proteins and fats.
By the way, it's most definitely NOT for people on low-protein diets. It would only exacerbate any
protein-deificient condition in the body.
