feature of any walk in the area in just the same way as
anything else...

Presumably the passport nonsense applies to all wild ponies,
including the ones in the Beacons? Hold on, what about sheep?
Or is this a case where the government know when they're going
to lose out themselves? After all, make it difficult for
farmers to keep sheep and all meat-eaters and wool-wearers,
including politicians, will have to go without. Make it
difficult for farmers to keep ponies and all you lose is the
'ahhh' factor. Or am I just being more than usually cynical?

I think the beacons ponies are similarly threatened. But judging by lack of
information it's difficult to know.
I know for definite that the exmoor (or is it Dartmoor?) ponies have been
exempted as a wild species.
These ponies aren't worth a lot for the farmers, and certainly not the £75
per pony.

I was just being cautious with the OT. You're right, theyre part of the
walking experience in the Carneddau (and other areas). The walk would lose a
certain something for me now if they were to go. It's what makes the
Northern Carneddau unique.

That does not surprise me.
More disinformation.
Under normal circumstances i'd imagine someone to raise the cash (i'd stump
up for this one!), somehow for a rescue.
But as there is such a lack of informatoin on this, its possibly going to be
too late when those who want to help have the information in their hands to
do so.
