  1. How many carbs would be in a shot of whiskey and where can I find out this
    info before I indulge?

  2. Zero. But it does contain alcohol which your body will burn for fuel. And
it will diminish your ability to resist temptation.

  5. don't think there are any carbs in whiskey,,,but watch what you mix it
with,,,,keep to the diet soda's or club soda's,,,,,,and you do have to watch
    the calorie's.

Probably not much. But alcohol oxidises into acetaldehyde
then ketone bodies & burns much faster & more cleanly than carbs.

Its no fat, low carbs, high calorie.

    the calorie's.
I had 3 the other night with diet cola without any ill effects.

I mixed an ounce and a half of Crown Royal Whiskey with a 355 ml can of diet
    pepsi.
    It was quite good.

I looked up whiskey in my carb counter book. I never knew it was in there
    previously
but 1 and a half ounces has 0 carbs and 105 calories.

Rum and vodka also have 0 carbs so at least now I know when I want a drink I
can have one or possibly even 2
if I am feeling like having 2.

Thanks for the help everyone. 8-)

One shot can leads to the second, and the second leads to the third. It can
    be a slippery slope.

Yes well, it is my slope.

  11. No carbs but alcohol is burned b4 anything else which = slower weight
loss if you drink to much. Also messes around with your insulin
levels. Some can drink, some can't, so find out and if it slows down
your weight loss than stop it.

I had the one drink and the most I will ever drink is 2 total and not every
    day.
Probably once every week or once every 2 weeks and only on a weekend
    evening.

That's about how much I drink, but I have light beer instead of whiskey,
which does have some carbs. The alcohol itself doesn't seem to have an
effect on my weight, but I do have to make sure I eat dinner before I go
out, because 2 beers _is_ enough to tempt me into ordering deep fried
    starchy bar food.

  14. That's why you still weigh 400 pounds.

Nah, common Jamie, you know it's a slipper slope, but that slope - as we are all
sure - is the slope that describe your weight! So onward and downward!

You talk like that's a BAD thing!

Frankly, as a professional whiskey drinker who spent a few months away from
it, you actually gain weight for awhile if you don't drink it. But you feel
a hell of a lot better. Alcohol dehydrates you, and although it results in
some weight loss, it makes you act stupid. Especially if your spouse isn't
    looking.
