  1. sorry guys, im sure this has been posted many times before but...

anyone used carb/starch blocking pills? do they actually do anything?

    cheers

  2. They make the manufacturers rich and keep you fat.
I don't use them. Not eating carbs is an effective carb blocker ;-)

  5. Blocker pills act like a nasty laxative.

I've heard there are some prescription carb blockers, which presumably do
something, but I've heard that what they do is slow down the absorption of
carbs, rather than prevent it. Ie make it 'lower glycemic' or 'less
    glycemic'.

Which might or might not make a difference in your diet system.

Some researchers have found that 'curry leaves' may possibly also 'block'
or 'slow' carb absorbtion. This is not like 'curry powder' (a mixture of
spices) but is a whole fresh leaf sold very cheap in Asian markets, a
popular seasoning. Tastes sort of like dried chives. I posted more details
    about this elsewhere.

I sure wouldn't spend money or risk digestive upset on a 'carb blocker'
pill (unless it was VERY effective, and well recommmended) since there are
so many other methods available, such as eating more fat and fiber or using
various seasonings or acid/pickling etc etc.

  7. The best carb-blocker is your own brain. Decide to go low-carb, and
stick to it, don't rely on crutches like carb-blockers or all of the
packaged food which is so popular these days.
