  1. Am I wrong, or is that Patrick Field in the opening sequence?

    It is!
But on an upright with panniers.

Even Patrick can sell out :-) (that's a joke).

  3. "People do tend to move out of the way for you"
    [censored].

And did you see that roadie?
Cycling along and NOT on the cycle path alongside the road?
What does he think he is doing?

  4. God help me for saying it on this newsgroup,
but respect to the guy with 46 cars.
They're all classic cars, and they've been manufactured already.
    Environmental damage done.
(before anyone asks, have I have a 54 registered car).
He can't drive all 46 at once, and is obviously an enthusiast.
It would be a shame to do away with the lot of them, in the same way
that it would be a shame to do away with many vintage cars in museums.

Glad you are okay John! I was wondering if you were okay in light of the
week's events in town as I hadn't seen a posting from you until this one.

Interesting programme last night. At least it didn't make out that car =
good, cyclist = bad, which was refreshing.

    Cheers, helen s

There were lots of tossers in cars. The guy + wife & baby in 4x4 was
classic. Mind you, the [censored] to top them all in the programme was the bloke
& his wife who were into the "my body is a temple" thing... "We are vegan,
we only have meat once a week" being deeply concerned environmentalists
whilst driving a hummer... and said bloke going on about how the hummer
could drive over land mines without being damaged... in Essex??? What a
w*nker! Nathan was creased up laughing at him.

    Cheers, helen s

That's the place for them - not being driven ;-)

All present and correct, thanks for asking.

On reflection, I think the program was masterful.

Thinking back, there was a shot of Patrick Field in his back garden
cleaning the chain on a recumbent.
I guess he rode the upright so as not to appear to be a 'bearded weirdie'
    type.

  10. Also great - the "of course you can have five cars" speech.

OK - as I've said before I have a car, and have relatives with
two car families. No problem with that.

    But the speech, to summarise:
This is my dad's Mercedes. This is the family car.
This is my car (yellow hatchback) - my personality shows in this
This is my dad's sportscar. Special edition Nissan.
This is where my sisters Polo would sit.
And this... this is my mums car. Useless really. It has no purpose.
She just gets in and drives it. It is the car used most. (one litre Micra)

    Errr... let's rewind here.
The Micra is the useless car? No purpose. Yest used most.
    How about the sportscar?

I wish we could get a transpcript.

    Yes, it was rather good.

B*gger me, I missed the part about them living in Essex, I assumed they were
    ex-pats living in Baghdad ;-)

Bugger me. I thought he was the worst.

"The xxxx's are virtually vegans, but they allow themselves one
    meal a week of turkey".

Eh? I admit it - I eat meat myself. I had a lovely warm chicken salad
    for dinner. M
