Yes to both. V-brakes are sometimes referred to as "sidepull
cantilevers." They use the same mounts, but different levers, as
centerpull cantilevers have high mechanical advantage at the lever and
low ME at the brake, whereas Vs have low ME at the lever and high ME
at the brake.

Don't mix and match the levers, or you won't stop no matter how hard
you squeeze (V-levers with cantis) or you'll run out of cable pull
before the pads hit the rims (Canti or drop levers with Vs).

Either way, bad mojo.

Actually just long arm side pull brakes but mount on canti studs on
the frame and fork. Must have 'specific to v brake' levers for best
performance tho.
