  1. I ordered a replacemnet Cannondale bike - a jumbo Quick 3 - in July. Still not here. They are telling my dealer they are behind in production. My problem is I have no bike after five months. If you are looking to buy a new bike, get a Trek or something else. These guys are out to lunch.

    Detroit-area bike buyer.

  2. My experience with Cannondale has been totally different than yours. This year a had a frame issue with a 2007 Synapse carbon. Cannondale replaced both the frame and fork with a 2011 in under three weeks.
Five months waiting for a bike is quite ridiculous. I and can only lay blame on you for putting up with it. I would have been looking elsewhere maybe a different dealer or different bike. Cannondale is a large manufacture who is logistically challenged with their bikes being produced in Asia.

What large manufacturer isn't logistically challenged with their bikes being produced in Asia?

I'm not defending Cannondale and five months is at least 2 months too long to wait, but if you have to order a bike from overseas and they don't have it in stock, you need to take into account that Asia has different holidays than we do and also a different set of priorities. The typical Asian mindset is that it is not financially worth disrupting the production flow by inserting a special order into it. One unhappy customer doesn't mean a whole lot to them unless that one unhappy customer begins hounding them and effecting their sales. If you contact Dorel (Cannondale's parent company) and have some of your friends do the same, you will be surprised at how fast your bike will show up.

  4. If you special order a bicycle, you should have a contract with a delivery date that satisfies you.

    ---

I don't special order bicycle parts. I would rather have a bicycle to ride. That means that you take what they have. And make do.

  5. I doubt any "Asian mindset" has anything to do with Cannondale production. The terms of the contract between the manufacturing facility and Cannondale do.

To the OP, your experience with Cannondale is pretty much the opposite of nearly everyone else that's had a Cannondale. Sometimes production gets behind. That's life. If you don't like the wait, get something else in the Cannondale line.

This is spot on. The terms of these agreements are based on for-casted sales. Cannondales crystal ball may have been broken.
