Well it works quiet well for poison oak and poison ivy.
My brother-in-law who is deathly allergic to poison oak
exposeure....like to the tune of an emergency ward visit
everytime he gets it on him.....swears that if he can't get
to the emergency ward pissing on the site does quite
well until he can get to a hospital.

Please post ANYTHING showing that UT will not work as I said.

Please post ANYTHING showing that smearing your face with
peanut butter won't work 10 times better than that.

Please remove your head from your ass before posting. It is easy to
understand why you might think of peanut butter though.

I haven't seen that one yet. Should they leave it on? Wash it off? After how
    long? Does it burn?

    Baking Soda works great.

If we're talking about the same thing -- those tiny little
painful white sores that occur in the mouth between
the cheek and gum, I have to second that. Put a little
dab of baking soda on it as the last thing you do before
going to bed, and you'll see major improvement in a
day or two. It'll heal much faster than if you do
    nothing.

I had forgotten about this until seeing Rich's post,
because it has been so many years since I'd had
    one of those.

That is one of those home remedies that actually works. Canker sores are a
virus and the Baking Soda apparantly kills the virus. Once your immune
systems builds up enough antibodies, no more canker sores. That was the
theory years ago, and I am not sure if it is still true. Hurts like hell
when you put it on, but the sore is gone in a few days.

I gather is reduces the penatration of the oil....good soapy water
with a pine oil base (pine sol type) will do the same but if you are
not near running water what do you do? He works on housing
construction sites. And as for the chemical stuff ie Benadryl
(internal) etc ..... not strong enough that is why he must go
to the nearest emergency ward. And yes, he has come
close to being dead thank you.

If we are speaking of the white, painful sores on the gums, and or side
of the tongue, the correct medical term is "aphthous ulcer". The
current thinking revolves around these lesions being a sort of
autoimmune reaction, however bacterial/viral causes may exist. I get
them occasionally, and in my experience certain foods can trigger them
    (citrus fruits and tomatoes).

My GP recently suggested taking a capsule of tetracycline, dissolving it
in water and using this mixture as an oral rinse. Not sure if there is
good evidence that this helps, and I have yet to try it.

Yes, tetracycline is an ingredient in the custom compound that
I prescribe to patients. It kills those nasty little L-forms and
    other types of bacteria.

You speak rather definitively regarding the etiology of apthous ulcers,
yet every resource I have seen describes the etiology as idiopathic,
with likely numerous contributory factors. For the most part I have just
used local anesthetic gels/oral pastes to manage them, but some of the
reading I have done suggests that topical corticosteroids may be
helpful. What else in in your custom compound?

Not in my experience it won't.

That claim is like saying that a cut will heal in a few hours.

Do you suffer from apthous ulcers ? How often do they recur
and do you get single or multiple ulcers (at one time) ?

Unfortunately I get them on occasion, usually after I have accidentally
bit my lip. I have an Rx for tetracycline, so I will give the oral
rinse a try next time I get one... the most effective oral paste I have
encountered thus far is one I found while on vacation in Europe...
Solcoseryl Dental adhasivpaste... of course not available here...

Get a compounding pharmacy to make up about 5 ml
    of 'Negatan'
If you can't get this I will provide a source for you.
    Not available without Rx

Take the smallest amount that you can on a swab and
apply to the ulcer for 10 - 15 seconds
    (warning: burns like fire)
wipe off area with very wet gauze until clear.
    Then rinse mouth copiously.

The ulcer's nerve endings will be 'cauterized'
and the ulcer will no longer be painful.
