  1. Well as for cancellations,

Its always a good idea to notify your clients of your cancellation policy. As a rule, I give my
clients 24 hours, within which, to cancel their appointment. Enforce the policy well, otherwise,
your clients will waste your time and not take you serious the next time.

my area that also does bodywraps for cellulite control, then I will have to mention that I know of
an M. T. in the Augusta Area That does bodywrap training and body wraps, plus M.T. services. write
to: [email hidden] TO REQUEST A LINK to the Augusta Area,Georgia,USA, Bodywraps Specialist and
    Massage Therapist.

  2. Also, remember if YOU cancel on your client (for whatever emergency) with less than 24 hours notice,
you owe your client a free massage or the cash equivalent. Respect for time goes BOTH ways.

  4. Douglas,

I really DO appreciate the problem from a therapist point-of-view (realizing that this type of
service business attracts more than a few flakes...first-timers who will no-show) even though I am a
client, not a therapist. My point is just that the respect for one's time has to be two-way (massage
seems to attract more than its share of flakes both in terms of providers and clients). Fortunately
for me, from the penalty perspective, in twenty-two years of getting massages I have only missed one
appointment and that was when my plane was late (I did manage to call my therapist of eight years
from the airport as my massage was supposed to begin) and we merely rescheduled. Of course, I was
also understanding when she was 10-15 minutes late due to child shuttle duties (this happened many,
many more times than my one no-show)...

Therapists just have to be aware that it IS a tightrope (is it worth getting your late cancellation
fee if you lose a client?). Based on my virtually never missing an appointment, if she had charged
me that would have been the last time I ever saw her... And don't even think about a cancellation
fee unless YOU are always punctual and never cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours notice. Of
course, with a long-time client-provider relationship the decision on what to do in this instance is
much easier because you can base it on past history.

  5. Goerge;

You have to realize that I am both a Therapist/Client. Over the last several years the absolute
benifit is to the client. I am not Talking about a one or two time cancelation. The policy is for
people who are chronic..I don't waste your time don't waste mine. Let's be serious..(about your
    health..that is..)

    George

I am totally with you here. I have had long term clients who missed one appointment and I didn't
charge them. It's a good rule to stop those that may be habitual about missing appointments. But I
will add, If I were to screw up and miss an appointment (which I never did) I would give them a
discount, unless they have been given a few 'strikes'. Plus if a client calls and say they have
say... diarrhea and they would NOT be comfortable getting massage, I don't charge the cancellation
    fee. (Just an example)

It is a sticky area. I just wish everyone would respect everyone's time. Period.
