  1. I have not worked out consistantly for a while now, so currently I am
    at:
5'10, about 165-170lbs, 33 inch waist. (think Kid Rock, skinny with a
    bit of a belly)
According to some trainer, I am around 14% bf.
so my muscle weight is about 145lbs(?)

Anyway, I heard from some guy that my lean muscle mass is too low to
    really cut weight.

He said that at my weight, I "lack the muscle mass to get really
    lean."
He recommends I bulk up before I even think about cutting.

But I feel my waist is way too big right now, most of my pants dont
    even fit.

So is he correct? Am I too light to start cutting effectively?

    Thanks

    disagree with "some guy".

At 165-170 lbs and 14% bf, he's not exactly emaciated. He shouldn't be
trying to get down to 5%, but there shouldn't be any problem with
dieting down to 9-10%, or whenever the excess belly is gone, and then
    bulking.

In fact, I know just the diet for him: the Official Palestinian Speed Skater
    Diet.
