Anyone got any suggestions for campsites on or near the coast in the Minehead area?
I have cunningly arranged to take a week off work at the start of August :-) as nobody else in my team wanted to go then. I feel a trip to the coast is in order and I have a 5 year-old unused map of Exmoor, so Minehead here I come!

We have stayed here a few times, tons of walking close and short drive, family oriented site, cream teas around the corner, shops in Porlock (walk) or Minehead (drive)

I've stayed at Halse Farm near Winsford where you can walk straight onto Winsford hill from the site and Dunkery Beacon is not that far. It is very exposed though so not a good choice if windy, and does slope a bit.

It's a bit further down the coast, but we have stayed at Channel View near Lynmouth:
Friendly owners, they even opened the site a day earlier than they planned to fit in with us. We also did a deal with the Beggars Roost pub next door to cook us breakfast.
The camping club site at Minehead. Very quiet and no caravans as the hill is to steep for them. For a cyclist £3.40 high season, £2.25 low season. Map reference SS 9580 4710

The YH at Lynton is very nice and you have the fun of going up the funicular to it too. Depends if you are a member. i would guess anywhere there will be very booked up at the mo. There is a Butlins at Minehead if you can bear this.

I've stayed there. It was lovely and quiet; the toilets and showers were clean and tidy. It didn't seem too expensive, and everyone was very friendly. I'd go back there if I wanted a site in that area. -- To reply see 'from' in headers; lose the domain, and insert dots and @ where common sense dictates.
