Camera for walkers

I've sidestepped all this DSLR stuff and gone for an 8 Mpix KMinolta
A2 (35mm equivalent 28-200mm lens) which hould be in my hands next
week. £530 from Amazon. :-)

It's arguable whether you have "sidestepped all this DSLR stuff".
Technically, you have, since that has a fixed lens. But the look, size
and handling is very much of the SLR flavour. Still, it should be a
very fine camera (I've been using an A1 for about a year now, and find
it excellent). I hope that you'll be very happy with it.

Although, as I said, I use a Minolta A1, I'm not convinced that it's
the best for walking. It's a bit on the big side (even if not as big -
or heavy - as my film SLRs). I do wonder if a little compact -
something like, say, the Nikon Coolpix 5200 - might be a better choice
for carrying all day. I suppose that it depends on your personal
priorities.

It's a digital SLR if it's (a) digital, and (b) an SLR. Fixed or
interchangeable lenses has nothing to do with the property of being an SLR.

farts were discussing a clue in which an SLR was mentioned. One said
"It's possibly a Self Loading Rifle"
