I love making them for my family,,,,,,,is it possible to
freeze them before frying? If so, would I have to defrost
them completely before frying them? Thanks to all.

You can freeze panzerotti - but don't try it with calzone
unless you're really good with frozen yeasted dough.I would defrost both (especially calzone) before frying -
because they will splatter a lot when frozen and I'm not
sure if the centers will heat up enough before they
finish browning.Practice safe eating - always use condiments
-
Thanks everyone for responding,,,,,,,,,I will try them both
ways, flash freezing before frying, and after frying. My in-
laws who come from Italy, told me the only way too cook it
is deep fried, but to each their own. I make some for the
kiddie's with just sauce, pepperoni and mozzarella, and for
me, I love it with Italian Hot sausage, and cheese, and hot
peppers. Thanks again for your input!"sandy" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

fried. I think that would be way too much trouble. -

That was my reaction too, but I googled it and - yes,
they exist! Fried isn't my idea of calzone... it's an
empanada to me.Practice safe eating - always use condiments

FRIED? WTF?If I ever heard about it, I put it out of my head. It's
just wrong. Not like any calzone I ever saw. Doesn't
sound very appealing. Perhaps we are talking about two
different things, like maybe a small thing, as someone
mentioned. Funny.nancy

few times... it's all about the "Where I come from"
thingie. Where I come from (Brooklyn) most every *real*
pizzeria fries their calzone...I've eaten many a calzone in NYC. Baked in the pizza oven.

Where I come from (Brooklyn) most every *real* pizzeria
fries their calzone... the new chain pizza joints (they
don't even serve pizza deserving of the title pizza) serve
baked calzone (what they call calzone - not!).For baked calzone there is no problem with freezing it
uncooked... simply allow it to defrost on the counter (or
in fridge) until about 50% thawed and then bake in a
'medium' oven. For fried calzone, fully cook, then
freeze... to serve simply pop fully frozen into 'medium'
oven and cook until fully heated through and crust crisps.I agree with you Sheldon, "fried" is the most magnificent
way to eat Calzone! Actually, in this little snippet from
1998 Sheldon elaborates a little more regarding the cooking
of the Calzone...//groups.google.com/groups?q=fried+calzone&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-
