Here is a full text paper that mostly looks at this from calorie restriction perspective (see "CR and the neuroendocrine system" section). They also mention mutants and transgenics with low or high GH levels and the respective changes in lifespan:
OK, I read the paper and in layman's terms it would appear that "big animals live shorter lives." Would you consider that to be a correct interpretation of the findings, or is it too simplistic? That's hardly encouraging for those of us trying to get HYOOGE.
Well it's a review on CR, so I don't think that's the main thrust of the paper... or that mice live longer than elephants for that matter :-) However I would not want to increase my own levels of GH or T. It's just kind of funny that HGH is being peddled as age-reversing.
Ah, good catch. What I meant to say was that big "individuals" live shorter lives. Or, in other words, eating and lifting to get huge probably aren't life extending activities.
Oh well, I still want to be big. I've had enough of being the bookish nerd.
If I can lift X amount of weight (use DL as an example) for 5 reps with good form, what should I attempt as a 1RM?
The exrx.net calculator is cute, but strength varies based on a lot of factors. Some days I can do several more reps than I expect, and some days I can't get one rep out of weights I've done 4 or 5 reps of just a couple of days before.

I know exactly what you mean. ;-) I think I've linked that pretty much to 3 variables.
