Terrible news. Really, he has had such a strong showing this year. He has been performing well in all races he entered. Not taking the easy route that so many targetting the Tour do. Like taking the DNF´s and the 80th place. Hope he recovers in time but in reality its no chance. Maybe he can target the Vuelta, he probably wont be needed for the World Champs even if totally fit.
Just read it myself and was about to post a topic on it. I can't believe it! This guy just can't win. Even worse luck than Dutchy this guy has!

The sad thing about collarbones is they never heal as strong as they
used to be, so they're always fragile after a crash. Ride carefully you
guys!

Awww man... I was *really* looking forward to seeing Cadel
ride in the TdF fully prepped.
At this rate, he wont be 100% if he does ride.

An interesting viewpoint. Do you have a medical or physiological background
that you're speaking with? I know Cadel has had several repeats of the
collarbone break, but assumed he'd simply rushed his recuperation to get
back racing. I'm recovering from a collarbone, and a friend, who is a nurse
of considerable experience, has assured me that I'd be very unlikely to
break the collarbone again as the knitted bone will be even more robust.
Hope she's right and you're wrong Marty!
Cheers

Some positive news...
He said on his website that he will be back on the trainer almost immediately, and of course wont race Cataluyna. Seems to be confident it will not affect his Tour preparation at all.

Yeah; cyclingnews have reported that it was a hairline fracture, not a
break, and won't require surgery. Will be on the road in a week. Yay -
followed the monkeyboy's career since the MTB days and have wanted to see
what the poor [censored] can do when given a chance by the gods of... chance.
If there was ever a jinxed rider, he's gotta come close.
I'd like to see Cadel enter the TDF even if to say he did it just like his
arch nemesis Miguel Martinez (from his MTB days).
