On my ATB I have a 'Cyclolarm' about 14 years old. This is a
cable lock, with an alarm that sounds if the cable is cut.
The main unit is attached to the bike frame tubing with U
bolts, and contains a battery.

The maker was based in the Newcastle area; I bought an
optional longer cable from them.

Big problem with all types of alarm is they are
counterproductive. Toerag will set the alarm off, wait to
see if anyone reacts (e.g. the owner is nearby) and if not
finish the job and leg it with the bike.

There's an alarm from gearshift that goes in the handlebars.

Someone on this group (sorry can't remember his name) has
done a neat remote alarm based on a PMR type radio. Dead
clever I thought.

Seen these. You take the front wheel out of the childs bike
and hitch it onto thyer towing bike to produce what looks
like an unstable mess.

You don't take the front wheel out. There are two models
that I know of, the Giraff (which I have) and the
trailgator. Both require a fitting to be attached to the
towed bike as well as the tower.

My experiences are that they work reasonably well and are a
good solution for short trips. They are not good off road or
when much manouvering is needed.

Of the two I think the Trailgator is the better design.
