  1. .... aka "Caffeine."

Ooo. I had a strong cup of coffee this morning and it hit me like a ton of
    bricks.
    I'm actually *shaking* right now.

When I wasn't cycling, coffee never did that. Never really did *anything.*
    Take it or leave it.

    Anyone experience this?

I gotta ride... this is ridiculous.

    Chris - quivering like jello

If I /didn't/ experience that, I'd switch to decaf . . . and we all
    know /that's/ not gonna' happen....

I've never had that much of a caffeine buzz but I did ween myself off of
full strength coffee for the most part. It was affecting my sleep. Now most
days I make myself a morning blend of decaf and regular. Only rarely do I
have any more throughout the day.

    Voila! Sleep problems gone.

I suspect the buzz is from habit. For me the body got used to a waking
caffeine jolt and then cycle exercise which works out rather well. Take away
the ride and your body doesn't know what to do with all that stimulant.

    Just a theory.

  4. I can see how it would work if you normally cycled after a morning coffee
and then didn't on a particular day - you might feel juiced.

Man - I gotta be careful with the caffeine. 🙂

TdF question: are riders allowed to have caffeine or is it considered a
    "drug?"

Thanks for the advice on the sleep problems - that's something I've been
troubled with on-and-off for a long time. Cycling helps - maybe laying off
    the coffee would help more.

    Thanks again.

Are you serious? One unusual occurrence, and you know exactly what to
atribute it to. That's what gives anecdotal evidence such a bad name.

Caffeine used to be a regulated substance, it isn't any more.

  7. I'm not attributing it to anything. I just wondered if this was something
    anyone else has noticed...

  9. When I had to commute over Mulholland Dr (in El Lay) every night, I had
to be sure to avoid caffeine up to two hours before leaving for home, or
I would get an awful "buzz" just before the top of the hill.

"Awful 'buzz'" -- what a concept!
