That's right. You'd think the other teams with riders with chances to
win wouldn't have given up a lead if they thought Pereiro was a threat.
You'd think for a guy to get 30 minutes behind, he wouldn't be a
threat, or he wouldn't have gotten that far behind in the first place.
But Pereiro was great today. I wonder how well he time trials.

him. Let's hope now he can rest tommorrow and get ready for the TT.
With only 20 seconds on Sastre and 30 on Piereo he has a real chance to
win this thing....unbelievable!!!

Shure, with only 6 riders remaining including their GC man and a guy
with broken back. Phonak, Rabobank, T-mobile, AGR2 and Davitamon-Lotto all
had more riders to spare and higher GC spots to defend.

Having broken my back in a bike crash last year and spent a 30 days flat
on my back in a hospital bed and the following 90 days in a deeply
uncomfortable brace not unlike a turtle shell, I am in awe of anyone who
can ride with a broken back.

I've actually broken mine twice in separate crashes (5th and 12th
thoracic), and I know that a lot depends on where you break it (5th is
better if you have the choice), but wherever it is it isn't nice.

Chapeau to that man.
